Use light switchfor LEDs in homebuilt subwoofer?

I'm building a subwoofer, and I'm putting in LEDs and cold cathode tubes that will blink with the subwoofer. I know that I can't use a light switch dimmer that runs from the amp to the driver (sort of as a makeshift gain control) because that can start a fire because they arent built to handle that. I want to be able to turn off the blinking stuff in case I find the blinking annoying after a little while. But i was wondering if I could use a light switch between the output from the amp and the lights to turn off the LEDs and cathodes if desired, or could this cause a problem?
