My betta stays on the bottom of the tank is something wrong with him?

hi i was wondering if crowntail bettas always stay in the bottom of the tank because i just got mine yesterday and today he is always at the bottom of the tank and idk whats wromg with him and can they live in a tank that has plastic plants
