Is it okay to use a 12v LED in a device with an 8v power supply?

Specifically, I'm wanting to replace the lamps in a vintage receiver. The original bulbs are 8v 300ma lamps, while the fuse-style LEDs I've found are rated at 12v, and are designed for auto interior lights.
