I have a 20 gallon tank and I want to have a lovely planted one to. How do I do this?

I have tropical Flourescent Lights and 20 gallon fish tank. I heard that I have to give them plant food once a week like leaf zone but is that it or do I need anything else to achieve a nice heavily planted tank? Thanks
