Can I wire several feet of EL wire into an automotive LED circuit?

Seems my car's interior lights, power window, locks, etc. switches are most likely factory LEDs, and probably the smallest kind literally about 2mm across. I intend to add a few feet of 1.2mm EL wire to each door and wire it and it's small inverter into the factory circuit. Surely this wouldn't overload the circuit would it? I mean with everything together, it can't pull more than 1 ampere right?
